The Birkin is a cultural icon, and it was famously created for Jane Birkin by the CEO of Hermès in 1981 after he sat next to her on an airplane and saw all of her belongings fall out of her handbag. Every Birkin bag is hand made by a craftsman. It takes 48 hours per bag and the Birkin bag has over 2000 hand sewn stitches. These bags truly are an investment, meaning that they either hold or increase value over time. It is nearly impossible to walk into a Hermes boutique and be offered a Birkin without first establishing a client “profile”, which equate to a long history of purchasing. This beautiful Birkin is constructed of Gold colored Epsom leather which is noted for its rigid and extremely durable with Palladium plated hardware. The interior is lined in matching Chevre (goatskin) leather. It will include a matching bell shaped key fob (clochette) with keys and matching lock.
The exterior leather is clean and beautiful throughout with some rubbing and wear to the bottom corner edges. The Epsom leather shows light creasing and some faint scuff marks. The hardware remains bright with light surface scratches. The interior leather is clean and overall remains in great condition.
